Job Role:

​

To effectively lead the carpentry division within Gellers specializing in accessory structures such as garages, cabanas, and pool houses; interior and exterior home renovations, sunrooms, 3/4 season rooms/additions, and timber framed buildings.

This position is likely 70% field work and 30% office work. As Geller's continues to grow there is opportunity to transition to a more office orientated role.

Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read and write English

  • Ability to understand building plans / prints

  • Access to reliable transportation to our shop located in St.Andrews, MB, or direct to your job site

  • Ability to stand and work with your hands for long periods of time

  • 5+ years of carpentry construction experience in a foremen position working directly within framing, custom home building, structure building, or custom renovations

  • Ability to listen and follow instructions from a direct supervisor

  • Comfortable with working in dusty, hot, wet and/or cold temperatures

  • Comfortable working weekends if schedule permits

  • Valid Class 5 License

Daily Tasks Include:

  • Work with our established design and management teams to assist in the design, review, product specification and estimation for all carpentry related project elements

  • Review quoted materials and material orders

  • Work with draftsmen and engineers to help establish building methods and worksite prints

  • Establish labour hours tied to worksite tasks and goals

  • Operate and maintain all tools of the trade

  • Handle logistics as it relates to material deliveries and sub-contractors on site

  • Direct and teach inexperienced staff members

  • Assist, lead, and supervise the construction of all carpentry related elements listed above

  • Complete interior renovation projects through out the winter months

  • Communicate as needed with clients and address any concerns

  • Track and monitor KPIs within a job to ensure job site profitability

Required Skills:

  • Communications skills required to work with project managers, clients, and fellow staff members

  • Ability to work as part of a team for extended periods of time

  • Communicate by receiving and providing direction to fellow team members

  • Help lead younger or inexperienced employees in completion of routine tasks on site

  • Ability to use hand tools, battery tools, and air tools as they relate to the trade

  • Read and understand construction drawings

  • Equipment operation skills as required to complete your daily tasks

  • Use cloud based software to track hours on site appropriately, and document any deficiencies (Lead hand and foremen positions only)

  • An extremely high level or organization and a self directed motivational attitude

Length of Employment:

  • Full time

  • Option for flexible hours during the winter off season completing interior renovations, carpentry scopes of work, snow removal or extended vacation

​

Expected Hours:

  • Summer Hours

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weather and schedule may require some Saturday work.

  • 8-10 hours per day

  • Winter Hours

  • Monday to Thursday/Friday

  • 6-8 hours per day

Compensation:

  • Normalized starting wage of $30-$45/hr based on experience and skill set
